Prelude to American Kickboxer 2

Presented by We're No Cupcakes, Cupcakes. Two tough guys are forced to take over a bakery and not kill each other or the customers.

Sam brings in a dozy this week, when two tough guys have to team up and do assorted martial arts to free a young girl from a kidnapping ring. American Kickboxer 2 stars Dale Cook, Evan Lurie, Kathy Showers and Tackleberry. Our main question for this film will be: Is there any actual kickboxing in it?

About American Kickboxer 2 - Movie Information

Sam's Boring Bullshit

Written & Directed by Jeno Hodi. He is also the writer director of the recent film Metamorphosis. Beyond the previously mentioned he also helmed such favorites as Black Sea Raid, Guns & Lipstick and the infamous Deadly Obsession.  I have never heard of any of these movies but they look like this guy could be headed for the hall of fame.

The film stars one Dale Cook.  Dale Cook is evidence that being a decorated kickboxer does not a star one make.  Dale held the WKA Middle Weight World Title as well as the UK Super Middle Weight World Title.  He also slipped a Light Heavy Weight Thai-Boxing Championship in for good measure.  He currently runs a Karate school in Tulsa.  This guy seems do have done all that we thought Van Damme and Gary Daniels did when we were kids.

Evan Lurie is going to surprise us.  He is most known now as a composer, for such films as Silver linings Playbook & American Hustle.  This was his plan B I guess, after his tremendously terrible plan A as a karate movie star didn't pan out.  I always get super jacked when I see him as uncredited toughs in movies, such as Double Impact.  He is the brother of famed jazz musician John Lurie.  He also runs the Evan Lurie Fine Art Gallery in Camel Indiana.

Kathy Shower, PMOY 1986 was the last Playmate to be born before the first Playboy issue was published in 1953.  She has 39 acting credits; looks like she took her shirt off in most of them.  I can’t remember if she does in this but I feel like she doesn't.

The man who comes out into the street yelling "That's my car!" was Maxin Ross, who is uncredited. He owned the Platinum Club in Manila, the Philippines and several of the girls who worked for the club are extras in the movie. This scene was added to the original script as a thank you to Maxin for being a generous host.

There was some faulty info about this movie that I dug up about a year ago.  The original title was Karate PI or some nonsense.  What I can adequately ascertain from seeing the filme is it bears no connection to American Kickboxer nor does it have kickboxing the sport in it.  So it totally Troll 2s out in that respect.

Keep an eye out to see if Dale Cook wears anything but sweat pants.
